Internet freedom a basic human right |
Before the RA No. 10175 was signed into law - The United Nations Human Rights council unanimously backed a resolution that would penalize governments who cut off their citizens from the internet and was published online on July 6, 2012 by Lauren O'Neil. There were about Forty-Seven member countries of United Nations who backed that freedom of expression online is a basic human right. To read the whole text visit the link: U.N. declares internet freedom a basic human right.
It was during the second world war, the declaration of United Nations took placed on January 1, 1942 when the representatives of 26 nations have pledged their supports. And in 1945 another 51 countries signed it and became the original 51 member states. To date there are about 192 member nations of United Nations and one is Philippines started in 1945. United Nations Day is celebrated on 24 October each year.
I quote "Article III of The 1987 Constitution of The Republic of The Philippines BILL OF RIGHTS of Filipino people Section 4 says: No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances." Does Republic Act No. 10175 respect or disregard what is said in Article III of The 1987 Constitution - Bill of Rights of Filipino people? Will the said law RA No. 10175 will send me to jail because I asked that question?
