Happy Father's Day is to Honor The Dead Fathers: How About The Living Fathers

If your greetings said "happy father's day" that greeting is intended to your only father. But if your greetings said "happy fathers' day" that greeting is meant holiday to all the fathers in the world. The dictionary explains that with the apostrophe before (s) in father's "belongs" to each individual father, while the apostrophe after (s) in fathers' that would be a holiday "belonging" to all fathers as collective.

Not everyone celebrates father's day. There are countries that do not celebrate father's day - may be because of the idea that when the greetings said "happy father's day" is meant to honor the dead fathers. But there is an interesting question during this holiday - Would you wait your father dies before you can greet him "I Love You Dad. Happy Father's Day?"

If we will take the idea from the origins of "happy father's day" and "happy fathers' day" that greetings are intended merely to honor the dead fathers. The first origin of father's day and fathers' day was taken when the Monongah mining disaster of 1907 in West Virginia has killed 350 men and it was Grace Golden Clayton who organized an event to honor the fathers killed. For details visit The Origins of Father's Day by Dictionay.com blog.

The second origin of father's day and fathers' day was absorbed when Sondra Smart Dodd attended a mother's day sermon in 1909, and she believed that there should be a corresponding holiday to celebrate fathers too. Her idea was taken and the first father's day was celebrated by Washington State in 1910 in June - the month of Sondra's father's birthday.

The greetings "Happy Father's Day" have so many meanings: It may be said as your simple way to say thank you to your father, to show your love and respect to your father and more else. So now to say happy father's day is not merely intended for all the dead fathers anymore but specially to all the living fathers in the world for their unconditional love for their children too either they are singles or married fathers including all the church men (fathers) priests.
