Newspapers Mines of Great Ideas
The early publication of newspaper came about around 1601. It was England and France who first published the long news accounts called "relations". However, at around 59 BC, the Roman Empire published "Acta Diurna" (Daily Acts) or government announcement bulletins ordered by Julius Caesar carved in metal or stone and posted in public places. And history recorded also that before the development of the newspaper - there were two major kinds of news publication existed simultaneously - the handwritten news sheet and the single item news publications.

News Reporter Important Element That Makes News
Before starting to write a story for a newspaper, it would be helpful to give first some thought to what makes an event newsworthy. Some newspaper editors believe that reader interest is the key: readers should read about what they want to know in the paper. Other editors argue that newspapers should inform their readers about current events and deemphasize negative or unsavory topics which interest many people, such as murder, violence and sex.

Writing News Lead
The first and most important paragraph of the news story is called lead. Readers will normally judge a story on newspaper by its lead. If it does not grab their attention, they will not read on. It summarizes the contents of the story and conveys its mood and a sense of urgency.

Investigative News Versus Interpretive News – a Reporter’s Notes
In hard news story, the term interpretive news may suggest to a contradiction in terms. Traditionally, news is thought of as objective, with interpretation of the news sent off to the editorials. But recently most journalists have come to believe that absolute objectivity is impossible to achieve. No matter how unbiased a reporter attempts to be, everything he perceives and writes is seen through his own eyes. Every reporter decides to include certain aspects of a story and exclude others, thus interpreting the event.
