Google Team is now on alert tracking email hackers. This is a proof that Gmail is doing its job for the safety and security of their registered users.
On October 21, 2012, I received an alert from Gmail team telling me that they detected a suspicious activity on my Gmail account. Some one from Belgium was trying to sign-in to my Gmail address.
The IP that certain person used was recorded as IP Address:77.73.177.5. I was further asked if I recognized all the said activities. If I answered Yes - the said prevention for IP address used for sign-in attempt will be lifted out but if I answered No - I was further told to reset my password or change it to a new password.
The next day at around 3 AM on October 22, 2012, Gmail team sent me an email again said that the same IP address was used to sign-in to my Google account from the same country. This is really headache. I am in Philippines but this person from Belgium was trying to hack my Gmail account.
Below is a copy of the whole text from gmail team said:
Paul,
Someone recently tried to use an application to sign in to your Google Account. We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt:

IP Address: 77.73.177.5 (netnoc.eu)
Location: Gent, Belgium
Sincerely,
The Google Accounts Team
Google Team further advised me: If you have any doubt that any of the sign-ins were yours:
- Run a virus scan on your computer. Some hackers install programs on computers to track what you type, and a virus scan will reduce this risk.
- Change your password. Someone likely knows your password and used it to sign in to your account.
- Update your account recovery options. If someone did sign in to your account, they also might have modified these settings so that they can get new passwords sent to their email address.
